HEROIC YOUTH FIGHTING THE WAR AGAINST PORNOGRAPHY AND MORAL DEGENERATION

The world is constantly changing, like pictures that before were only in sepia, now in glossy colorful paper; like the telephone that before, were large and heavy, now handy and mostly have these bluetooth, infrareds, cameras, internet and mp3 players in it. But now, those material things aren’t the only ones that had changed… morals of individuals also changed as time took an advantage in technology. Why, for all the reasons, do students still forget it when, like us, the Makati Science students, have this as a subject being taken in regular class? The answer may be seen in every nook of our surroundings. Moral degeneration is an outcome of the worldly goods around us, and how these give us different ways of looking on what’s good to what is bad, like brawls, technology, computers, lies, sex, infidelity, terrorism, robbery, divorce, killings, pornography, abortion, etc.

Pornography is clearly stated as one of my examples for the impact it’s causing to a lot of people can’t be measured. Like moral degeneration, it also lessens our values... our good values. What is it anyway? Pornography is any material that contains sexually indecent pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual excitement. It has the craving and necessity to earn cash and to feel lust. Put this two together and you’ll cause pestering both to yourself and of others.

In our modern situation, there’s no doubt pornography can influence a young child’s mind because of the greatness that technology has nowadays. From magazines, to television shows, to music, porn cannot be avoided. But, let’s get back to the title. Was it not, the HEROIC YOUTH? What does this mean? Does this tell us that petite children will replace their daddies or mommies in continuing the started war? NO! It’s not like that. It just tells us that we can do what the adults had failed to do.

Most of the victims of this moral degeneration were children like you and teenagers like high school students for most of the people abuse our virtue, our innocent thinking towards this kind of topics. They thought our minds were weaklings to understand ruthless things like these. But today, surely they must think again. The youth of today aren’t powerless… they have greater power than what a lot of people can think of. That is why, as a teenager, as a heroic youth who is ready to fight against the moral degeneration, what could we do to stop this virus from spreading? Let’s start with a simple prayer, then go to community services, helping the victims of calamities, being a good example to every boys and girls, influence those who is not aware that they must veto these kinds of frivolous things that only dirt our minds, be eloquent on what you know is right like saying to those smokers to stop what they’re doing for it is bad for their health, studying hard and anything that could put all evil away.

So, let the youngsters do the job for they can do it surely, the adults might say. But no! Who would guide us in our work? Who would help us achieve without any support? Though getting old and weak, we the youth still need the guidance and love that only the parents can provide. You served to be our good examples. Imagine what our world would look like if we work hand in hand? It would be a wonderland; a paradise for it would be a safer place to live in. Think about it
