Today, Japanese is already being taught not only in universities around the globe but also in numbers of primary and secondary schools worldwide. International interest in the Japanese language dates from the 1800s but has become more widespread following Japan's economic bubble of the 1980s and the global popularity of Japanese pop culture such as anime and video games since the 1990s. Now, since animes have been so popular in televisions, many youngsters have been so in to it that they try to imitate its language.
Because Makati Science High School is soaring for greater heights to fulfill its vision of having global educational linkages, this school year, it is now offering a free Nihonggo classes consisting of 30 students and 5 teachers, interesting huh?
Many of its students have been eager to be included in this program. Indeed, this idea brought much zeal and excitement not only to the students but also to the faculty members as the school year opened last June 10. Those who will be chosen are so fortunate for their teachers or mentors are really great in using the language. They came all the way from Japan just to teach Nihonggo to these lucky 35 individuals of Makati Science. Selection process was done by drawing lots. Since this year will be the pilot year for this program, it has been decided that the students will come from the juniors and seniors.
Those who will be chosen shall be asked to sign a memorandum of agreement as one of the requirements of the program. Through this agreement, the willingness to attend will be seen and how determined they are to learn will be tested. Since this program is free of charge, the 35 lucky individuals should give their best efforts to learn the said language. Also, they must be diligent to attend because those in charge will surely be strict to them.
The said program will be done every Wednesday from 5:20 pm to 6:20 pm. This will help students be globally competitive when it comes to the use of the Japanese language and be effective communicators of Nihonggo. Though this would mean additional loads for both students and teachers, it will absolutely benefit them and help them acquire knowledge about Japan.
