THE MAKATI SCIENCE VISION, THE MAKATI SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL

UNEDITED SAMPLE LITERARY ARTICLE
By Vladimir Paat Villegas
IV - Isaac Newton

Energy equals the mass multiplied by the speed of light squared. This is the formula to which I have given my whole life. They say that this is such a formula which illustrates the way Hiroshima and Nagasaki was blown into pieces and a way to travel through time, but is that all? No. This formula is just like any other formula which breaks into many other formulas. Just like what it is to science, it is also a thing that appears in life in many different forms.

During the years of childhood, curiosity came to me because of this sole thing. Upon reading books, I knew that it was one of the things which were considered to be the origins of the atomic age. Because of its knowledge, it drew invitations to the world of physics, especially to that of atomic energy. Although it led to the interest for the search for further truth which could not be found inside the classroom of an ordinary elementary student, it led to frustration because of such misunderstanding.

Science was the favorite for me, especially when the topic was already about energy wherein there was a shot to talk about him and explain further his ideas; however, many times had argument came when the subject was that relativity. No one could ever do anything to make simple elementary students understand what E=mc2 really means because everything that they would know was that it was that and that was it. Even I understood nothing at all for my mind was not like that of a maker of a cyborg or any complex thing.

But time took not that long. As the elder years of high school started, clarity came nearer because there was a complex intelligence of science and mathematics already and since it was understood further, it led to curiosity of investigating it by learning the relativistic mechanics even if the topic was still on the classical one. Some even tried to relate it by mentioning the situations in different frames of reference. Some, including I, even tried to understand it further by trying to study its complex mathematics.

The scientific meaning of relativity was then revealed upon growing up, but we never though that it goes further as we grow up because it is also a part of our lives and even its own inventor tried to expound it through his different quotes.

When you sit beside a beautiful girl for an hour, you feel that it was just a minute; but try sitting on a hot stove for a minute and it feels like an hour. When we are in the best of times, everything seems easy but it seems like it is short even if it is spent for almost a lifetime; however, when we are traveling its steep and hard ways for a little while, we long for those good things and we get too bored to wait for it. It feels like it happens over and over again.

However, we should remember that we shall encounter different things in different times and we need to figure those things out by systematizing everything, which goes together upon looking up to Him, thanking Him for everything, and asking Him for his guidance. Some things can never be answered by us by our own knowledge and He only is the one who knows the answers to those things. As it was said, science without religion is lame and religion without science is blind.

That is relativity.
