MAKATI CITY – The first public flag disposal in accordance to the law and cultural tradition shown in the public in Makati City during the afternoon just this Friday, 11 July 2008.

The program of Huling Parangal Sa Watawat was preceded by former Kagawad Armando “Boy” Tecson of Guadalupe Nuevo, the Council Scout Executive together with the city council (who were also Scout Masters) headed by Hon Jejomar Erwin S Binay, the Chariman of BSP Makati City Council in the presence of the different barangay captains and scouts from different public schools, including those from Makati Science High School headed by Mr Lorenzo R Alberto.

It all started with a short prayer and a nationalistic song led by the councilors themselves.

A procession of the different historical flags led by selected scouts from General Pio Del Pilar National High School then followed, showing the evolution of our national flag. A poem about the flag was then recited after the procession.

The Philippine Flag in quadrangle of Makati City Hall was then retreated by another set of selected scouts and surrendered to Councilor Binay, who then led the burning of the old flags. The different barangay captains who also brought old flags then followed until all ashes were put in a common urn and the program then came to its conclusion.
