MAKATI SCIENCE ADMITS MORE STUDENTS

The Makati Science High School, having its entrance exam annually every March, admitted a greater number of students this school year than the past years.

This school year, school year 2008–2009, it had planned to admit 200 students hence approximately 180 slots were just filled up.

But these approximately 180 slots are still slowly reducing due to the fact that some students can’t handle the pressure given by the school.

Because of the high population of incoming freshmen, the number of sections of different year levels now became five, greater than the usual four sections per year level.

The added sections were I–Aristotle for the first year, II–Anton Van Leeuwenhoek for the second year, II–Neils Bohr for the third year and IV–Madamme Marie Curie for the fourth year.

The high population of the incoming freshmen can be considered as one of the main causes why each year level had an addition section.

Due to this, some students commented that the school is becoming populated in a way that more classrooms are needed.

It has also had some positive comments such as a teacher would be more focused on teaching a student because there are fewer students inside a classroom (this only applies to the higher year levels).

The main cause of the administration for doing this is due to the fact that the school will evacuate and will have its new territory not later next year.
