If you read its original story, you will most probably understand the movie. As seen in the movie, most of the scenes were taken from the story and some were made by the creative minds of the movie producers. The sequence of the scenes were also revised which resulted to some twists in the story. These twists entertained the watchers and made them curious of what will happen next.

In our case, the sound projection was bad so we have to rely on our schema or stock knowledge of Beowulf to understand it well. At first I was a little confused about the characters and didn’t understand much due to the poor sound projection, yet after a while I was able to catch up with the story. The heavy fight scenes pumped up my blood which helped me stay awake during the entire movie. I really enjoyed the fight scene with the dragon. Had those fight scenes were not that good, maybe I had fallen asleep since the very start of the movie. However, the movie is a computer generated one because such scenes were beyond the limitations of the human capability to execute such impossible actions. But as I’ve said, they were enjoyable to watch as they penetrate your wild imaginations.

The selection of the actors was also good. The performance of the actors was splendid as they gave life to each and every character in the story. The character of Grendel caught my interest because of the good portrayal of the actor. Such character is hard to portray and act.

Though Grendel is an antagonist I didn’t imagine him to be that ugly, unlike what the story in the book describes. It helped the movie to be more creative and interesting. Beowulf showed his strength not only in terms of physical strength but likewise his emotional and psychological power in him, which is the key to fight all kinds of evil. Like any other movie, of course evil will never triumph over the good one.

I will always remember this movie because of the part of the story wherein Beowulf was responsible to kill Grendel’s mom however, because of his personal feelings for her, he failed to do so and the expected consequences happened. At the end, he was forced to kill his son, the dragon. I should always remember this part because in everyone’s life, there will come a point wherein you are going to make a decision. In making such decisions, you should always consider the consequences of your actions. Personal feelings could be controlled; hence, the same could sacrifice for the welfare of the majority.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie and I could recommend it to those who are fond of watching fictional movies. For young moviegoers, they should be accompanied by their parents or by adults due to the violent scenes. I suggest that the school use better sound system to make the movies much more enjoyable and understandable the next time.
