"Progress always involves risk; you can't steal second base and keep your foot on first." — Jimmy Johnson
The quote implies to us that life is full of uncertainty. You can't always have all the wonderful things. Sometimes you have to let go of something to start another page of your chapter. You are not sure what will happen if you do this, or that. You don’t know what will happen if you take this way or the other way. And if once you already into something, you cannot turn back. You’re sacrificing for something you’ve treasured for the better one to come. Sometimes you have to take risks in grabbing opportunities to achieve the sweet success.
I just want to share a story from the net about two mountaineers that are trapped in a cave. These two mountaineers are the best friends among them. Both of them are good mountaineer, clever and have high self esteem except of one. The other mountaineer is a risk taker while the other is not. They were trapped in the said cave for almost 10 hours until the mountaineer that is a risk taker decides to search for a way to go out of the cave knowing that it is not safe to explore the cave alone. And the other one just keep on waiting for the rescue team. The risk taker mountaineer saw the way out of the cave while the other is left inside the cave.
The situation above tells us sometimes, we should take the risk of what will happen and just believe in your talents and abilities. Doing such risks and good decision making will lead us to the best of we can be. These can also give us a higher self confidence because you will be proud of yourself if you make it right. And if not you can be a better person through the trial and mistakes you had. And as you get into something you can meet more people that you can lean on in times of trouble.
Life is like gambling. Bet all your money in a game because if you win you will have a lot of money and if not you will learn from your mistake. Don’t hesitate to do something because you are the one who is deciding for you so you don’t have the right to complain when the result of your decision is terrible.
