ONCE UPON A TIME

UNEDITED SAMPLE LITERARY ARTICLE
By Ma. Clarissa Garcia dela Cruz
IV - Michael Faraday

Once upon a time, two royalties first were not fond of one another. Actually, they really do not know each other until they were in a feast. They soon became friends after minutes of exchanging laughter. Other royal people thought they were on to something. However, they were not, at first. Rumors began to spread like the flick of the lighted candle in a darken room. The prince grew sad but the princess told him to take no notice of it. Because of the surprising authenticity of the prince, the princess fell for him. a magical feeling soon filled her childish heart and began beating so hard she could no longer hear herself. However, she kept it for herself for the fear of not wanting by him in return. Not until the prince made her understand, what his heart keeps on shouting that her heart cannot hear. They apparently became lovers.

Everyone thought that it was a perfect love story. They both believe it was. Nevertheless, in any story or fairy tale, antagonists are always present. For them, it was a silent killer. A silent enemy they were aware of but still cannot find some ways to get rid of it. Before they could know it, their opponent began ruining their lives, their relationship, and their love. They started to argue for days, and then for weeks. They tried to fix things but cannot seem to stitch every single of the robe they made to bind them together. They tried every possible way to make it up to one another. They pretended that soon it would be all right. It worked though. Their adversary seemed defeated.

Until, it strikes once more. One sunny afternoon, the princess was busying herself watching dandelions go with the wind. It has been quite a while that they ever saw each other. Therefore, the princess was so delighted when she saw the prince. But the happiness she felt never last. The first thing that the prince said to her was that things were not working between the two of them. In addition, with no definite reasons, he left. Her world was shattered in to pieces. But no tears ran down from her eyes. In fact, they were solemn, gentle and never hating. She managed to wear a smile. She knew that was it. Therefore,, they lived no happy ever after. After some time, she heard that the prince was planning to marry a witch. She tried to win him back but then she had to stop for she could never win.

Those who have known me better could notice that it WAS our love story. You were my prince, and I used to be your princess. The witch was the girl you love after days of forgetting me. The silent killer is our destiny and the truth that there is no perfect love story. Before, I tried to wake you up from the enchantment that she cast on you. Then I have to end it. I have to accept the fact that sometimes, witches are better than princesses are.

Though every love story is a fairy tale, there were no fairy godmothers to make the chariot on my way back to your arms. No poisoned apples to drive you back and save me from dying inside. No magical trident to order your return. No lamps or genies for me to wish that it was all just a dream and it is time for me to stir up. All I have is the plain reality you will never come back. And that it all just happened… once upon a time.
